Responsibilities

• Act as the lead financial advisor for assigned repair facilities, building strong partnerships with plant managers and shop leadership.
• Develop and continuously improve financial analysis and key operating metrics reporting for repair facilities.
• Translate financial results into operational insights, identifying cost trends, drivers, and savings opportunities.
• Use dashboards and analytics to communicate findings clearly and visually.
• Support capital spending reporting and analysis processes for the facilities.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting productivity, efficiency, utilization, standard hours, repair revenue, and other key metrics in collaboration with the Fleet Maintenance Management (FMM) team.
• Ensure FMM audit results are accurately reflected in facility performance metrics.
• Review and maintain fixed asset registers for the facility, including related reporting and controls.
• Work with Accounting, FP&A, and Internal Audit groups on financial compliance and controls activities as required.
• Lead contract administration and real estate/property management functions for assigned facilities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes for assigned facilities, partnering with operations to gather assumptions and inputs.
• Analyze monthly and quarterly variances between actuals and budget, providing root cause commentary and suggesting corrective actions.
• Assist with budgeting and analysis of capital investments, including cost savings related to potential investments.
• Drive accuracy and accountability in financial planning processes.
• Provide financial analysis support for capital investments, potential cost savings, and other ad hoc items.
• Support the development of financial data and analysis for investment evaluations, aligning with the GATX capital investment process.
• Monitor actual capital spend versus plan and report on progress and variances.
• Track and monitor the capital project process.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA with a concentration in Finance and/or Accounting desired.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles; prior experience in a cost accounting role strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with accounting and financial analysis in a service/maintenance or plant manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong business acumen and ability to explain financials to non-finance leaders.
• Occasional travel required for support of multiple facilities, management meetings, and projects.

This role is part of the Business Analysis team and functions as a finance partner to assigned repair facilities, interfacing with plant management and operations leaders. It collaborates frequently with FP&A, Accounting, and Internal Audit teams for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.

Pay

As of the post date, the salary range for this position is $92,700.00 USD to $139,000.00 USD. This range considers factors such as geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and business needs. This role may also be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan.
