Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant processes across the organisation.
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, authorisation processes, reconciliations and audit trails.
- Oversee purchase ledger, supplier payments, supplier reconciliations and finance query resolution.
- Ensure sales invoicing, income allocations, commissioner billing and recharge processes are accurate and well controlled.
- Manage bank reconciliations, prepaid cards, credit cards, cashflow monitoring and treasury activity.
- Oversee payroll processes, HMRC requirements, pension deductions, payroll reconciliations, P11Ds and PAYE settlement activity.
- Lead month-end routines including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and supporting schedules within reporting deadlines.
- Support year-end accounts, audits, statutory returns and external information requests with clear evidence and documentation.
- Line manage and support finance colleagues, setting clear expectations and maintaining a responsive finance service.
- Identify and implement improvements that reduce manual work, improve reporting quality and strengthen financial governance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a finance management, management accounts or senior finance role.
- Strong understanding of payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, month-end processes, management accounts and financial controls.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines, competing priorities and recurring reporting cycles.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the confidence to challenge appropriately and support managers constructively.
- A confidential, trustworthy and values-led approach to handling financial, commercial and personal information.
- A solution-focused mindset, with the ability to improve systems, processes and ways of working as the organisation grows.
Qualifications
- Desirable: Experience within health, social care, housing, not-for-profit or another multi-site organisation.
- Desirable: Experience of care-sector funding, commissioner invoicing, payroll processes or regulated service environments.
- Desirable: AAT Level 4, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA, or equivalent finance experience.
- Desirable: Evidence of continued professional development in finance systems, Excel, reporting or accounting processes.
Skills
- Confident Excel skills and experience using finance systems, reporting tools and structured spreadsheets.
