About the role
The Finance Clerk III supports the Harrison County Campus Business Office and provides administrative assistance aligned with the College’s mission and the Business Office’s goals. This position reports to the Business Office Manager and the Dean of Business Services at the Harrison County Campus.
Responsibilities
- Manage campus VA and other military accounts, including setup, adjustments, billing, and reconciliation.
- Maintain detailed Excel spreadsheets for military and third-party accounts.
- Oversee, reconcile, and invoice third-party student collections.
- Assist frontline staff with collecting student payments and posting them to student accounts.
- Provide professional assistance to students in compliance with FERPA federal law.
- Balance session work and prepare deposits.
- Handle incoming Business Office phone calls and emails professionally and efficiently.
- Cross-train with other Business Office Finance Clerks in areas such as purchasing, payroll, refund processing, dual student accounts, and club accounts.
- Upgrade skills and performance through an Employee Development Plan.
- Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with college personnel, students, and the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in a business-related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least two years of experience in a business-related area.
- Proficiency in personal computer operations, including the Internet and Microsoft Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
- Experience handling money and making deposits.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience using Banner Software or a comparable electronic data system.
- Experience working in a multi-task environment.
- Prior experience in a community college setting.
