Responsibilities

  • Accounting Leadership & Oversight
Manage and perform day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, deposits, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.

  • Ensuring Compliance
Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness. Ensure compliance with GAAP, lender requirements, and HUD regulations.

  • Annual Audits & Tax Preparation
Oversee annual audits and tax preparation with outside CPA firms.

  • Establishing & Improving Policies
Establish and improve accounting policies and internal controls. Mentor and develop accounting staff.

  • Supporting Complex Matters
Support complex accounting matters and special projects.

  • Strategic Finance & Business Partnership
Develop budgets, forecasts, financial models, and executive reporting that support strategic planning. Evaluate acquisitions, refinancing opportunities, capital investments, and new business ventures. Analyze portfolio performance, profitability, cash flow, and operational trends to identify risks and opportunities. Create meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and financial analyses that drive informed business decisions. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, increase profitability, and support long-term growth. Present recommendations and partner with leadership to guide strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Technology & Process Improvement
Become our internal expert on Yardi and related financial systems. Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting and reporting processes. Leverage technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and decision-making. Develop standardized reporting and executive dashboards. Streamline workflows across finance and operations. Recommend and implement solutions that improve scalability as we continue to grow.
