About the role

The Budget Analyst will provide leadership, oversight, and support of fiscal activities for clinical and center departments within the School of Medicine, including comprehensive financial planning and budgeting that embraces all operating components and fund sources. This involves the preparation and execution of various budget types, and all-funds budgeting across a large number of accounts and reporting formats.

This position will proactively seek to determine the needs of the units it supports to provide effective and efficient customer service. The Budget Analyst will provide recommendations on complex and unique financial issues based on projections for spending and the current/projected fiscal environment.

Other duties include: conducting regular budget reviews, providing support for pre- and post-proposal process for contracts and grants, assisting with determining training needs for division personnel.

Requirements

  • Mid- to late-career with Masters and 2- 4 yrs experience; Bachelors and 3-5 yrs experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
  • Ability to monitor and collect data, and to assess accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation and create financial reports and/or presentations.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure understanding of the information and message.

Qualifications

  • Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Experience in an academic/university and/or healthcare setting preferred.
