Finance Associate, Facilities Management

About the role

The University of Virginia’s Department of Facilities Management seeks a Finance Associate to support financial operations for a diverse and mission-driven organization. This role involves analyzing financial activity, monitoring performance, and preparing reports to support decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial activity across funds, projects, and programs, ensuring accuracy, appropriate coding, and alignment with University and departmental policy.
• Monitor financial performance by reviewing account balances, identifying variances or anomalies, and providing insights to support operational decisions.
• Perform corrections and adjustments within the University’s financial systems, maintaining a high standard of data integrity.
• Develop and maintain financial records and documentation to support internal controls and audit requirements.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and financial analyses that support leadership decision-making and operational planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot accounting issues, streamline processes, and recommend workflow improvements.
• Participate in training sessions and regular meetings to stay current on evolving policies, procedures, and financial system enhancements.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience: None required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Office applications, or equivalent; a degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

Qualifications

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA and requires an on-premise presence of at least 4 days per week. Compensation range is between $50k and $55k per year, based on education and experience. This is an exempt level, benefited position.
