Entry-level role focused on supporting construction projects in accounting and finance functions. Each project at Kiewit is run like a small business, with the Finance Analyst handling cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance.

About the role

Kiewit’s Finance Analysts support projects ranging from $1M to $4B, participating in forecasting, accounting, and month-end close processes. The role involves mastering tools related to labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts, and preparing financial reporting packages for project management. Kiewit operates across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, offering diverse career opportunities and relocation based on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt to project needs and assist in various areas as a team player.
  • Build relationships with the Operations team and learn about project work.
  • Master payroll and HR systems for hiring, transferring, terminating, and paying employees.
  • Understand purchasing workflows, invoice processing, and maintain internal controls.
  • Troubleshoot accounts payable issues and vendor payments.
  • Manage intercompany and client billing processes, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Review costs, budgets, and exception reports for accuracy and compliance with accounting rules.
  • Identify, adjust, and review forecast and budget issues in cost reports.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service to team members.
  • Keep a highly organized work environment and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Follow the Corporate Compliance Program and implement EEO and labor laws at the project level.

Requirements

  • Ability to relocate anywhere in the country.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.
  • 0-2 years of financial or data analysis experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Previous internship experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and other key Excel functions is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to access all parts of a construction site in various climates and environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Pay

Base compensation: $66,000/yr - $77,000/yr (varies based on education, experience, skillset, and location).
