Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance and Operations, the Finance Administrator is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the department, including budget monitoring, reconciliations, and the maintenance of accurate financial records. The position plays a key role in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budget proposals, while ensuring departmental compliance with university policies and procedures. Serving as the primary liaison between the department and central finance, the Finance Administrator will manage contracts, funding allocations, and respond to financial inquiries from faculty, staff, and students. The role also includes providing training and guidance on financial processes and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency through the implementation of best practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the department, including budget monitoring, reconciliations, and the maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budget proposals, ensuring departmental compliance with university policies and procedures.
- Manage contracts, funding allocations, and respond to financial inquiries from faculty, staff, and students.
- Provide training and guidance on financial processes and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through the implementation of best practices.
- Communicate financial information clearly to a diverse university community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated financial experience required, preferably in higher education or non-profit environment
- Experience with data management and analysis software (Excel, Tableau, SmartSheets) required, experience working with Workday Finance is beneficial
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy of finished work is critical
- Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the University
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex set of projects with competing deadlines and priorities
- Must be flexible, work well in a team and in a fast-paced environment
