Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding repair and maintenance to stationary production related equipment, machinery and structures such as, conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives and screws at aggregate, ready-mix and asphalt plants.
  • Tack welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Melts lead bar, wire or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • Installs or repairs equipment, such as, catwalks, ladders and other minor repair.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file or scraper.
  • Heats, forms and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment.
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  • Welds, lay out, fit, position, secure parts and assemblies and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, walkways according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.

Requirements

  • Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Ability to work in high and/or precarious places or cramped work space that requires getting into awkward positions.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Sufficient level language and math to read technical manuals, record repairs on report forms, operate welding machine, and perform other tasks.
  • Must be able to perform preventative maintenance repairs in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare the welding area and weld joints.
  • Maintain daily reports as required by Company regulations.
  • Monitor the welding process and make adjustments as needed.
  • May be required to operate forklift, man lift, as needed.
  • Absorb and comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Employee will be required to learn how to use a variety of hand and power tools, they include but are not limited to a cutting torch, welding equipment to rebuild and fabricate parts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial welding experience is required.
  • High school or recreational welding experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
    • Must have knowledge to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
    • Must have knowledge to operate welding equipment to join metal components together.
    • Must have excellent driving skills and the ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations in performance of duties.
    • Good mechanical skills are required, knowledge of raw materials, production process is preferred.
    • Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
