Field Welder

About the role

Must be able to construct metal components together for fabrication or repair using various methods according to blueprints, layouts, and or work orders. Extensive use of welding and cutting equipment will be performed. All welders must know how to operate safety equipment and use safe work habits at all times. Due to the type of work a welder does and the tools and equipment they use, certain physical requirements must be met. Welders must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The welders frequently handle, lift, carry and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds (23 kg).

Responsibilities

• Construct metal components for fabrication or repair using various methods according to blueprints, layouts, and work orders
• Operate welding and cutting equipment extensively
• Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits at all times
• Perform fabrication on sheet metal, plate, and/or other structural steel
• Perform common fabrication tasks: prep material, braze, solder, burn, grind, sand, drill, and bevel components
• Ensure workmanship meets or exceeds applicable industry standards and customer contract specifications

Requirements

• 2+ years of welding experience
• Experience in TIG welding stainless steel pipe (weld test administered)
• Ability to pass welding certification testing in a minimum of two required processes: GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, SS FCAW, and/or SS GMAW (6010/8010 downhill a plus)
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
• Ability to frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg)
• Willingness to travel to various local job sites within a work week; rare but occasional out-of-town travel
• Must possess and maintain a personal set of hand tools
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary

Pay

Up to $32.00 per hour, experience dependent
