About the role

Intertek’s Building and Construction division is seeking an experienced Field Testing Technician Level II to lead projects, manage crews, and perform field testing in York, Pennsylvania. This role offers career growth in the building enclosure testing industry with on-the-job training provided. The position involves hands-on testing, client interaction, and project leadership within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field testing projects, data collection, and report writing.
  • Set up testing environments, including rough carpentry work to construct test chambers.
  • Operate testing equipment inside buildings and coordinate with clients during testing.
  • Use high-reach lift equipment (boom lifts, supported and suspended scaffolding).
  • Assist with forensic investigations of building envelope failures, including exterior isolation work.
  • Communicate with clients and project teams regarding site observations and test preparation.
  • Plan projects on-site by coordinating water, electricity, and access with clients and teams.
  • Travel weekly (overnight and/or locally) Monday through Friday; paid travel time.
  • Perform physical work relevant to assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, building envelope, or fenestration.
  • Ability to learn building envelope systems (wall cladding, curtain wall, windows, doors, waterproofing, roofing) and their installation methods.
  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards for these systems, or ability to learn them.
  • Aptitude for independent work and leading crews on assigned projects.
  • Technical competency and strong written/oral communication skills for client interactions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Outlook.
  • Ability to work from ladders, boom lifts, roof levels, etc.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50+ pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push, and pull as needed.
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more; valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field.
