About the role

The Field Technician/Mechanic II-III will report to the Shop/Maintenance Manager in the Tuscumbia, AL area of the Alabama SMA. The successful candidate will lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout existing operations and support growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs on heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and asphalt equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose service issues affecting major components such as engines, brakes, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating and cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Inspect machines for abnormalities or defects.
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance on construction equipment and dump trucks.
  • Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
  • Weld and fabricate as needed.
  • Familiarize with heavy equipment parts, including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and work area checks.
  • Operate mobile equipment and a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.

Requirements

  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence; ability to perform all duties under DOT regulations and company safety policies.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working on construction equipment and on-road trucks.
  • Capable of working with limited supervision and scheduling own work.
  • Experience performing DOT Annual Inspections preferred.
  • Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and perform work at heights of 20 feet.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.

Pay

Wages dependent on verifiable experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time, permanent position.
