Field Technician - Land Surveying

Responsibilities

• Work under direct supervision of the Crew Chief to complete assigned field tasks safely and accurately.
• Absorb and assist with the setup and breakdown of survey equipment.
• Operate basic survey instruments (GPS, total stations, data collectors) with guidance.
• Absorb and assist in establishing control points and collecting field data.
• Perform basic field tasks such as rod holding, note keeping, and equipment transport.
• Support topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction layout activities.
• Maintain a safe work environment, including proper signage and equipment placement.
• Follow all company and project safety protocols.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working condition and report issues.
• Communicate professionally with team members and the public on job sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Flexibility to travel throughout Ohio to project sites is required.
• A willingness to learn survey equipment and field procedures is preferred.
• A strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety are essential.
• The ability to work outdoors in varying conditions is necessary.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• One to two years of land surveying experience or similar work is preferred.
• A basic understanding of surveying principles is preferred.
• Exposure to surveying, construction, or outdoor fieldwork is preferred.
• Coursework in surveying, civil engineering, or related field is preferred.
