About the role
Nabors is seeking an experienced field service technician to support the service and maintenance needs of our customers. This position involves traveling to client locations to install new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide technical training on company equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain Company manufactured drilling equipment such as Top Drive, Powered Catwalk, Hydraulic Wrench, and associated components.
- Perform electrical systems integration and troubleshooting of complete Top Drive, Catwalk, and Hydraulic Wrench systems.
- Supervise and train less experienced technicians.
- Schedule and monitor workflow for continuing daily progress.
- Inspect all equipment used and perform preventative maintenance checks and service.
- Notify supervisors of required repairs and provide equipment parts descriptions and part numbers to customers and part sales department.
- Ensure a safe and quality work environment.
- Work overtime as required to meet customer drilling schedules and project deadlines.
- Measure and record technical data as tasks are completed, inspect documentation prior to job closure.
- Perform repairs using torque wrenches and measuring tools.
- Assist in troubleshooting using multi meters, amp probes, meggers, and scopes.
- Travel to customer locations domestically and possibly international assignments.
- Troubleshoot and repair or overhaul drilling equipment, including traction motor alignments, main bearing end play verifications, and back lash and gearing verifications.
- Provide shop technical experience and techniques to other areas of the company as needed.
- Follow policies and procedures, complete administrative tasks correctly and on time, and maintain and complete documentation including detailed Service and Expense Reports in a professional and timely manner.
- Visit drilling rigs operating within the Technician’s geographic regions and converse with Customer Representatives.
- Seek opportunities to install additional systems on new rigs and to upgrade or add-on new equipment.
- Comply with and participate in company safety, reporting, and quality programs.
- Maintain company issued vehicles and tools.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and/or trade/technical school diploma.
- 2 years related experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Drilling Systems, or Electronics.
- Valid Driver’s License and Passport.
- Ability to read and understand equipment schematics and drawings.
- Advanced understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical equipment, functions, and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand equipment schematics and drawings.
- Advanced Mechanical and Electrical training.
- Basic knowledge of Oil & Gas industry.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- General knowledge of word processing software and email messaging.
- General knowledge of computers operations.
Skills
- Reading and understanding equipment schematics and drawings.
- Advanced understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical equipment, functions, and testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Able to use process meters and micrometers.
- Knowledge of OEM drilling equipment and ability to make repairs.
- Electrical (up to 600V) and Hydraulic/Mechanical knowledge.
