Overview

The Field Technician III position at Electric Power Systems (EPS) involves inspecting, testing, and maintaining high, medium, and low electrical power equipment. This role requires working with various types of electrical equipment such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers, grounding systems, instrument transformers, and switchgear, including both manual and motor-operated models. Technicians are expected to lead safety briefings, perform tests, troubleshoot issues, and prepare detailed reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety briefings on job sites, identifying, eliminating, or mitigating hazards.
  • Perform high, medium, and low voltage testing of electrical power equipment as a crew leader.
  • Utilize Human Performance Error Elimination concepts and tools.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and ensure optimal equipment functioning.
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
  • Lead in the development and writing of reports.

Qualifications

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Preferred: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with relevant test equipment, and knowledge of specific equipment types.
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in electrical or electronic technology, or relevant military experience preferred. At least 5 years of relevant industry experience, with NETA I I I certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
