Field Technician II
Overview
The Field Technician II at Electric Power Systems (EPS) is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining high, medium, and low electrical power equipment. This role requires the ability to drive daily and occasionally travel overnight, and to work independently on entry-level tasks under the guidance of senior technicians.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain electrical power equipment such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and various switches.
- Implement safety policies and procedures.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports of all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
Qualifications
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Preferred skills include excellent written and verbal communication, experience with voltage verification, contact resistance, insulation resistance test equipment, and understanding of electrical theory and hazards.
- Education and experience requirements include a bachelor's or associate's degree in electrical/Electronic technology, or relevant military experience, with 2-4 years of relevant industry experience and NETA II certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
