About the role

We are looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join our Service team in San Antonio, Texas. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will handle a variety of machinery repair tasks for our loyal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and complete routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
  • Maintain effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Discuss Service job details with customers and communicate a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
  • Communicate with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and prepare required parts before visiting job sites
  • Maintain proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
  • Report any safety incidents promptly and adhere to all safety policies

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
  • Relevant Trade Certification (an asset)
  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines (a strong asset)
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience (an asset)
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region

This is an onsite role based in San Antonio, Texas.
