Opportunity
The Opportunity Leavitt Machinery is looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join our Service team in Portland, Oregon. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
- Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
- Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
- Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
- Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2-3 years of heavy equipment or material handling equipment experience required
- Previous aerial platform and lift truck repair experience strongly preferred
- Relevant Trade Certification a strong asset
- Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing/servicing electric engines a strong asset
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

Pay & Schedule
The base pay range for this role is: $35.00 to $43.25 per hour depending on experience. This is an onsite role based in Portland, Oregon.
