Field Technician (Forklift Mechanic)

About the role

Lonestar Forklift is a customer-focused material handling equipment dealership with over 30 years of proven success and numerous branch locations across Texas. We offer new equipment, used equipment, rentals, service, parts, fleet management, and training for our customers, providing comprehensive and tailored solutions for unique business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
  • Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
  • Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
  • Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
  • Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
  • Relevant Trade Certification is an asset
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required
