Responsibilities
- Install prototype hardware — including foundation work, structural assembly, mechanical components, and electrical hookup
- Install field instrumentation — strain gauges, load cells, accelerometers, weather monitoring, and data acquisition systems
- Execute daily test protocols and log results against acceptance criteria
- Support weld inspection and quality verification in coordination with our manufacturing team in Woodland
- Maintain field test equipment, prototype hardware, and on-site spare parts inventory
- Document field observations, photograph anomalies, and feed structured findings back to the engineering team
- Travel to project test sites
Requirements
- 3+ years field technician experience in solar, wind, construction, or related outdoor industrial work
- Mechanical aptitude — proficient with hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and basic fabrication
- Familiarity with structural and electrical installation practices
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel to test sites
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in hot and cold conditions, and climb ladders
Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Prior solar, utility-scale PV, or large-scale outdoor hardware installation experience preferred
- Instrumentation experience — strain gauges, data acquisition systems, calibration preferred
- Forklift or aerial lift certification preferred
