Job Summary
As a Field Technician-3 at Cyient, Inc., you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, with a focus on outside plant and optical fiber networks. This role requires extensive technical knowledge and practical skills to ensure high-quality service delivery.Job Responsibilities
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair various electronic equipment and telecommunications systems, including but not limited to optical fiber networks and associated components.
- Perform work on Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure, including aerial and underground cable installation, splicing, and maintenance.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal placement and routing for telecommunications equipment and cables, adhering to Right of Way regulations and safety standards.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Execute wiring and cabling tasks with precision, ensuring proper connectivity and signal integrity.
- Provide technical training and guidance to junior technicians as needed, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in the field, utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques and test equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards during all field operations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management regarding project status and technical issues.
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Field Technician in the telecommunications industry, with a strong emphasis on Outside Plant (OSP) and optical fiber networks.
- In-depth knowledge of electronic equipment, telecommunications systems, and wiring principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling and splicing optical fibers, including proficiency with relevant tools and test equipment (e.g., fusion splicers, OTDRs).
- Familiarity with Right of Way regulations and procedures related to telecommunications infrastructure deployment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical training and work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
- Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and travel to different field locations as needed.
- Relevant technical certifications in telecommunications or fiber optics are a plus.
