Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water main systems.
- Support the setup and removal of tapping, line-stop, and valve insertion equipment.
- Clean and maintain tools, trucks, and work areas.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Follow instructions from senior technicians and job leads on site.
- Participate in pre-job safety meetings and adhere to safety protocols.
- Complete basic documentation such as safety checklists or field reports as directed.
- Observe and learn proper procedures for tapping, stopping, and field repairs.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Clear communication and respectful interaction with others.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Availability to travel and work overnight or on-call shifts as needed.
- Commitment to safety, attendance, and professional development.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in underground utility or construction strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10 and forklift certification within 90 days of hire.
Mental/Physical Demands and Environmental Factors
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet.
- Exposure to construction hazards, moving parts, and outdoor elements.
- Work in confined spaces, trenches, and other field conditions.
- Travel may be required on short notice.
