Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water main systems.
  • Support the setup and removal of tapping, line-stop, and valve insertion equipment.
  • Clean and maintain tools, trucks, and work areas.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment.
  • Follow instructions from senior technicians and job leads on site.
  • Participate in pre-job safety meetings and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Complete basic documentation such as safety checklists or field reports as directed.
  • Observe and learn proper procedures for tapping, stopping, and field repairs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Clear communication and respectful interaction with others.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Availability to travel and work overnight or on-call shifts as needed.
  • Commitment to safety, attendance, and professional development.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in underground utility or construction strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 and forklift certification within 90 days of hire.

Mental/Physical Demands and Environmental Factors

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet.
  • Exposure to construction hazards, moving parts, and outdoor elements.
  • Work in confined spaces, trenches, and other field conditions.
  • Travel may be required on short notice.
