About the role
As a Field Superintendent for Existing Installations (EI), you will ensure the servicing and repair of all assigned units to meet customer and company requirements for quality improvement, safety, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role supports Area objectives and includes responsibilities for employee selection, training, and safety across all assigned projects. Depending on the candidate, this position may also include a sales component.
Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance meets Area and Company quality standards and contract requirements.
- Implement customer and Company requirements for quality, performance reliability, and passenger safety for each project under supervision.
- Support sales staff in estimating service orders, scheduling, executing orders, and resolving customer complaints.
- Manage an ongoing program of project audits to ensure conformance with performance standards for quality, completeness, and safety.
- Develop and implement programs for manpower selection, training, and performance appraisal to meet productivity and quality improvement objectives.
- Implement route management strategies to ensure uniform application of preventive maintenance procedures while controlling manpower levels.
- Foster teamwork and dedication to quality improvement among all employees.
- Evaluate and initiate requests for tooling to support productivity improvements.
- Maintain proactive relationships with local IUEC business agents.
- Advise Area management of competitor activity related to pricing, performance, and manpower.
- Interpret customer concerns and mobilize internal resources to ensure customer satisfaction while minimizing cost and resource disruption.
- Make sound judgments regarding motivation, training, and work assignments for employees while adjusting manpower to meet customer requirements.
- Teach hourly employees the Company’s methods for quality, productivity, and safety.
- Persuade field employees to follow practices and procedures that foster teamwork and improve quality and productivity.
- Communicate with and influence business agents, inspectors, and others to resolve disputes.
- Demonstrate to customers that they are receiving fair value for their expenditures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent in relevant work experience in the elevator industry or other technical field.
- 5+ years of technical leadership experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of elevators and escalators to manage and direct field personnel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven leadership abilities.
- Ability to interpret customer concerns and mobilize internal resources effectively.
- Experience in making sound judgments related to motivation, training, and work assignments.
- Ability to teach and persuade hourly employees to follow Company practices for quality, productivity, and safety.
- Experience communicating with business agents, inspectors, and customers to resolve disputes and demonstrate value.
