About the Role

The Field Superintendent will oversee all phases of a construction project, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee job sites to ensure contractor success.
  • Organize end-to-end installations for readiness and completion.
  • Communicate and enforce safety procedures and site rules.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, departments, and field contractors.
  • Oversee quality control in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a schedule and cost-effective plan for project completion.
  • Collaborate with staff to create preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor.
  • Coordinate and schedule work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating instructions and assignments via the project foreperson.
  • Inspect work for quality and timeliness; prepare and provide progress reports to owners and architects; recommend modifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, attorneys, and stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and regulations are met.
  • Ensure adherence to architectural and engineering plans.
  • Obtain required permits and licenses; execute construction contracts according to terms.
  • Monitor budget throughout the project and communicate variances.
  • Maintain records related to costs and inventory.
  • Address safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with union representatives to clarify procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least four years of experience in the building trade.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and oversee diverse teams.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements for construction and building sites.
  • Knowledge of quality building practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve issues.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
