FIELD SUPERINTENDENT

About the Role

The Field Superintendent will oversee all phases of a construction project, ensuring seamless coordination, safety, and quality control from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of an assigned project.
• Collaborates with other staff to create preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor.
• Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating instructions and project assignments via the project foreperson.
• Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; recommends necessary modifications.
• Collaborates with architects, engineers, attorneys, and other stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and regulations are met.
• Ensures adherence to architectural and engineering plans, including compliance with local building codes and legal requirements.
• Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
• Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
• Understands and enforces OSHA regulations and site safety protocols.
• Oversees job sites to ensure contractor success and acts as a liaison between clients, departments, and field contractors.
• Manages end-to-end coordination of installations, including preparation and successful completion.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least four years of experience in a building trade.

Skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and oversee/coordinate a variety of roles.
• Extremely detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
• Thorough understanding of legal requirements, construction best practices, and local building codes.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
