About the role
The Field Specimen Phlebotomist Floater provides coverage at multiple client sites to ensure continuous operations during staff absences or vacancies. Responsibilities include collecting and shipping patient specimens (urine, oral fluid, and blood) accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Greet and identify patients according to standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Obtain billing and testing information following SOP.
- Collect urine and oral fluid specimens for drug testing per SOP.
- Perform blood collections via venipuncture and capillary techniques.
- Enter patient information accurately and timely into systems.
- Package and prepare specimens for shipping to testing locations per SOP.
- Handle customer service duties, including phone inquiries and patient interactions.
- Collect patient payments according to SOP.
- Adhere to HIPAA and DrugScan compliance policies for patient information, orders, and billing.
- Comply with safety rules, including proper sample handling, workstation cleanliness, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain workstation supplies.
- Travel to multiple states up to 90% of the time.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements
- 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
- Graduation from a Phlebotomy Program.
- Ability to travel up to 90% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of customer service experience.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
