Summary
Responsible for the safe and effective operation of equipment to collect/dispose/process municipal solid waste.Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
- Picks up and unloads solid waste including but not limited to garbage and recyclables
- Steam cleans and washes trucks and equipment
- Performs delivery, in-field maintenance, and inventory tracking of containers
- Performs routine maintenance, pre/post operation equipment checks (oil, gas, etc.)
- Operates compactor, mechanical and hydraulic mechanisms
- Picks up litter
- May be required to drive an assigned vehicle to respond to service calls
- Inspects and checks equipment before and after use, performs maintenance activities and reports problems to supervisor
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: OR- High School diploma or GED equivalent with one year of experience in a field services environment
- OR- Two years solid waste experience
- Core Competencies: Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Additional years of experience in a field services environment
- Preference may be given to applicants with a Texas commercial driver’s license
