About the Role
The Field Services Technician 2 performs testing, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment at field locations. This role involves installing new equipment, operating and maintaining both digital and analog devices, and troubleshooting issues to find solutions. This position typically works under close supervision and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Install and perform maintenance and repairs on equipment. May also assist senior field technicians as needed at field locations.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions using hand tools, test equipment, schematics, and manuals.
- Interpret schematics, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Perform system checks to ensure operational readiness of devices.
- Recommend improvements to circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Build cable assemblies and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in compliance with contractual obligations.
- Professionally interface with customer agencies to provide support and maintain strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with other technicians to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues.
- Perform general maintenance, technical, and semi-technical tasks not limited to electronics.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including DOT regulations for safety-sensitive roles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electronic equipment maintenance and repair or related field.
- Associate degree in electronics or related technical field, or equivalent technical school training is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and common software applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in challenging environments (e.g., crowded public stations, extreme temperatures, noisy areas, extended standing, and stair climbing).
- Flexibility to work on-call, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
This is a safety-sensitive position which requires pre-employment drug and/or alcohol testing and random drug and/or alcohol testing during employment in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Pay
The Cubic pay range for this position is $23.80 - $32.73 per hour, plus benefits.
