About the role
As a Welder/Fabricator at OTC, you will play an important role in building, repairing, and maintaining the equipment and systems that keep customers running. This position uses a variety of techniques to produce structural and piping components in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform Stick, MIG, and TIG welding using various sizes of wire and electrodes.
- Identify and select the appropriate filler materials for each application.
- Read and accurately interpret shop sketches, blueprints, and simple to complex isometric drawings.
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate components according to drawings and specifications with minimal supervision.
- Fabricate structural components, pipe shapes, and simple to complex piping systems.
- Set up and operate electric and engine-driven welding equipment.
- Set up and operate oxy-acetylene and handheld plasma-cutting equipment.
- Operate rigging equipment and perform simple to complex rigging operations involving small and large loads.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Operate overhead cranes and assist with mobile crane operations and signaling, as qualified.
- Maintain all required tools and personal welding PPE.
- Follow all company safety policies and perform work safely and productively.
- Travel to customer and job sites throughout Arizona based on business needs.
- Work extended hours when required to meet customer and operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in Stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Strong structural and pipe fabrication skills.
- Experience with pipe fitting, layout, and component fit-up.
- Ability to obtain AWS D1.1 certification upon hire; 6G welding qualification preferred.
- Ability to travel to job and customer sites with overnight stays ($60/day Per Diem plus room coverage).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and isometric drawings accurately.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and using mobile cranes and crane signals preferred.
- MSHA certification preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, efficiently, and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to meet company driving requirements, including completion of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record review.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, and other potentially hazardous conditions.
- Ability to perform considerable physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required protective equipment and follow extensive safety precautions.
Pay
Compensation for this position ranges from $30-$38/hr, based on experience and qualifications.
