Field Service Technician - Water Technologies
About the role
Veolia Water Tech is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our North American Field Service team. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating laboratory water purification systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, configure, and validate laboratory water purification systems in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance, system inspections, calibrations, software updates, and operational verification to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment failures at customer sites.
- Replace defective components and perform corrective maintenance to restore equipment to factory operating specifications.
- Complete service reports, calibration documentation, expense reports, and all required administrative paperwork accurately and within established deadlines.
- Generate quotations for billable repairs, preventative maintenance agreements, validation services, consumables, and system upgrades.
- Proactively manage preventative maintenance agreement (PMA) opportunities within the assigned territory by identifying renewal opportunities and working closely with the Sales and Customer Service teams.
- Train customers on proper system operation, preventative maintenance practices, and routine maintenance procedures.
- Respond to emergency service requests in a timely and professional manner while maintaining excellent customer communication.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professionalism, technical expertise, and outstanding service.
- Maintain company-issued tools, test equipment, inventory, and vehicle in a clean, organized, and service-ready condition.
- Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory safety policies while working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, healthcare, industrial, and research environments.
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.
- Collaborate with Technical Support and engineering to resolve complex technical issues and identify product improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Biomedical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or another related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant field service experience.
- Minimum of two years of field service experience installing, maintaining, and repairing technical equipment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers at all organizational levels.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple service calls and administrative responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience servicing laboratory water purification systems is highly preferred.
- Previous experience servicing biomedical, medical diagnostic, analytical laboratory, pharmaceutical, or life science instrumentation is highly desirable.
- Experience with reverse osmosis (RO), deionization (DI), ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems, water purification technologies, water treatment equipment, or laboratory instrumentation is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience performing equipment validation, calibration, preventative maintenance, and equipment qualification.
- Knowledge of laboratory, pharmaceutical, healthcare, research, or biotechnology environments.
- Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service documentation.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, and Salesforce.

- Compensation: Salary range is $60,000 - 75,000 annually.
