Key Accountabilities
- Service, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul engines, genset systems and their electronic and mechanical systems.
- Lead on-site work, maintain active list of project timelines and prioritize job tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of work estimates.
- Commission and operate engines and genset systems.
- Instrument genset systems and record test data.
- Inspect parts to assure conformance to specification.
- Perform field inspections of failed parts and write reports to avoid future incidents.
- Maintain engine, system and equipment log books.
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities.
- Request parts and tools to perform job functions.
- Source local vendors required for field service.
- Work with product groups on product design development.
- Provide input for updates of service manuals and bulletins.
- Instruct customers in safe engine operation, shutdown procedures and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical assistance to other service personnel.
- Remain technically current.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Analyze technical data.
- Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
- Perform special projects as required.
Basic Requirements
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship.
- We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
- 2 years mechanical or technical trade school and 3 years field service with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experience; or 5 years field service experience.
- Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range.
- Ability to travel 60-80% on short notice international and domestic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electronics and ability to read blue prints and electronic schematics.
- Ability to bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of genset enclosures and compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate machine shop equipment used for fabricating test parts and equipment.
- Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting of engines, instrumentation and electronic engine controls.
- Proficient in the use of mechanical and electric hand tools.
- Proficient in the use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficient in technical language and engineering terminology.
- Proficient in the principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Proficient in the operation of internal combustion engines.
- Proficient in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants and oils.
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.
- Experience with MTU engines and electronics.
- Experience in gaseous engine service industry.
- Experience in testing of gaseous engine components.
- Experience in rigging of weights up to 1 ton.
- Experience in report and service letter writing.
