About the role
Pace Packaging is seeking a talented Field Service Technician to contribute to the success of the organization through technical field support, ensuring strong customer loyalty and recognition as a leader in customer service. This role involves installation, startup, troubleshooting, and repair of Pace automated unscrambling machinery, as well as training plant personnel and engaging with customers for aftermarket sales opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation (electrical and mechanical) of Pace automated unscrambling machinery at customer locations.
- Conduct in-factory startup and commissioning of Pace machinery at customer sites.
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to achieve machine efficiency rates per contract requirements.
- Train plant personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Perform in-factory repair and servicing of Pace machinery, including troubleshooting inefficiencies, making adjustments, performing audits, installing upgrades, and providing follow-up operator training.
- Generate detailed service reports.
- Engage with customers to identify aftermarket sales opportunities, such as machine upgrades, retrofits, additional service opportunities, and recommendations for stocked spare parts.
- Set up and test variable frequency drives and servo controllers.
- Build, set up, and perform factory acceptance testing on new equipment at the manufacturing facility.
Requirements
- High School Diploma; Associate's Degree in a related technical field (mechanical and electrical) preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical background with experience in custom machine start-up, repair, and maintenance preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Ability to read and understand engineering designs, including wiring schematics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software for technical reports and training requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Good problem-solving skills and independent judgment.
- Ability to conduct high-level training programs for customer personnel on equipment.
- Ability to work independently, maintain a positive attitude, and collaborate with all levels of management and operators.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Non-travel time will be spent working in the plant.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $30.00/hr - $40.00/hr.
