About the role

The Field Service Technician III provides field support to TAS clients. This includes commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, or retrofitting mechanical and electrical systems. The position involves troubleshooting equipment, interfacing with various departments, and compiling operation and maintenance information.

Responsibilities

  • Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of vertical turbine pumps and split coupled inline pumps.
  • Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of Cooling Towers (Evapco, Kelvion, Marley, SPX).
  • Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of Centrifugal Chillers (Trane, York, McQuay, Smardt).
  • Startup and troubleshooting variable frequency drives (Eaton and Allen-Bradley).
  • Install and repair power distribution systems including electric motors, motor control centers, and variable speed drives.
  • Close interface with other Field Service Technicians, Project Engineers, and Project Managers, with the mechanical and electrical engineers, with service technicians, and with the client's personnel.
  • Aid the Production Department in assembly or training of factory personnel.
  • Compile O&M information and transmit critical O&M information during a project.
  • Assist in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals.
  • Perform Installation support and Commissioning of all Electrical, Mechanical, and Control Systems provided by TAS as part of a project.
  • Create legible "red-line" drawings to submit to Project Manager.
  • Arrange for a timely hand-off from construction function.
  • Direct the field commissioning of a project.
  • Provide documented commissioning of the mechanical and electrical portions (at a minimum) of the project.
  • Aid in Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions, possibly performing or overseeing QC checks.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by TAS.

Skills

  • Ability to read drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Office projects.
  • Exposure to at least one brand of PLC or Building controls.
  • Must be able to work independently at the job site.

Requirements

  • Significant project field experience in construction support, startup, repair, and maintenance work.
  • Experience with variable frequency drive startup and troubleshooting (Eaton and Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with verification of compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes and practices.
  • Experience with Centrifugal Chillers, Cooling Towers, VFD.
  • Ability to travel extensively to both domestic and international job sites.
  • The ability to work in field construction conditions is required.
  • Must have or can obtain applicable safety certifications including but not limited to OSHA10 General Construction, NFPA-70E.
  • Safe driving record.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Position is 80% travel both domestic and international.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.
  • The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
