Field Service Technician II
About the role
The Field Service Technician II position involves providing technical and mechanical services to external customers in various settings such as workshops, compressor stations, and process plants. Key responsibilities include planning and executing site installation activities for reciprocating compression equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems, performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and correcting engine and compressor problems, and participating in safety and environmental reviews.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute site installation activities for reciprocating compression equipment.
- Investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
- Eliminate future operational or service difficulties by performing preventative maintenance as requested by the customer.
- Through accepted standard troubleshooting processes, diagnose and correct engine problems and/or compressor problems.
- Perform testing of equipment in the field.
- Perform minor repairs, major repairs, or corrective maintenance on customer equipment including reciprocating engines and compressors.
- Complete daily safety checks and report safety concerns.
- Monitor key and critical operating variables and other process data to ensure that the engine and compressor units are operating within design parameters.
- On-site, attend operations meetings with client personnel to proactively identify issues and lead the efforts to resolve them.
- Participate in construction activities to ensure process designs are used for operational and safety, identifying improvements in unit operations based on actual field experience.
- Learn, share, and implement best practices with extended Reciprocating Compression Engineering, Sales, and Operations team members.
- Establish working relationships with key customer contacts including operators, engineering, and maintenance personnel to proactively cultivate the customer relationship and manage long-term and short-term issues.
- Participate in safety and environmental reviews. Ascend/descend ladders to examine equipment, position yourself to examine equipment including in confined spaces, move boxes weighing from 40 -50 pounds, work in outdoor weather conditions, walk long distances, and share company vehicles with other employees at customer sites.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in reciprocating compression.
- Meet all sublevel (FS Technician I) requirements.
- Safety focused, service-oriented, business focused.
- Dependable with ability to multiple-task successfully.
- Mature, able to take direction and adapt to different situations.
- Well-developed administrative and organizational skills.
- Results oriented with a sense of urgency.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and above-average interpersonal skills.

Qualifications
- Associate's degree with a technical concentration (or bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent work experience (minimum).
- Formal training in a technical certificate program.
- Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry.
- Master the core competencies: basic tools, basic engine & compressor theory, basic product knowledge, Cooper Bessemer, Ajax, Superior Engine, Superior Compressor, Gemini Compressor, Clark, Waukesha, Dresser, Caterpillar, basic shop math skills, basic computer skills – Word & Excel, equipment documentation e.g. drawings etc.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $XX.XX - $XXX.XX per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The schedule for this position typically includes travel 200-300 days per year, with periods ranging from 2-14 weeks at a time. Work may extend to 10-14 hours per day, including weekends and holidays, and may involve working 6-7 days per week. A typical work week can be 60-84 hours.
