Field Service Technician (Diesel Technician)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems.
  • Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.
  • Aid customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed.
  • Aid in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.
  • Initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.
  • Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
  • Preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment.
  • Diagnostic checks using computer technology.
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of diesel experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical card.
  • Commercial Driver License B - Preferred.
  • Diagnosing basic mechanical problems.
  • Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices.
  • Basic understanding of DC electric and circuit testing skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues—preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing.

PAY

The estimated salary range for this position is $29 to $31/hr. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.

SCHEDULE

Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours.
