Primary Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products.
- Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system.
- Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
- Identify critical design characteristics for safe and proper product functioning.
- Prepare for service jobs including downloading drawings, software, and necessary procedures.
- Utilize safe work habits.
- Comply with NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Facility/Group Specific Responsibilities
- Provide start-up service for newly installed equipment and service of existing equipment.
- Communicate directly with Engineering for technical advice.
- Complete all work on components such as piping, electrical, hydraulic, brakes, and clutches to avoid delays and back charges.
- Gain a thorough understanding of NOV products and their safe operation, testing, calibration, and problem resolution.
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair NOV Lifting and Handling equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years preferred of Controls/Electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with PLCs and PLC control systems, and working knowledge of VFDS.
- Experience with Allen Bradley RSLogix500/Studio 5000 and Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal.
- Experience with Emerson/Rockwell/Siemens HMI displays.
- Knowledge of Lifting and Handling equipment/operations is strongly desired.
- Mechanical/Hyd troubleshooting is a plus.
- Computer experience/proficiency required - Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
Job Requirements
- Pass a drug screen & background check.
- Valid Driver’s license required – as you will be operating a company vehicle.
- Must provide transportation from home to the office.
- Transportation to customer’s location will be provided.
- Must obtain HUET/BOSIET certification.
- Must pass UKOOA/OGUK medical exam for offshore work.
- Meet all land and offshore certification requirements.
- Must obtain NOV corporate credit card and maintain an active status per NOV credit card policy.
- Overtime will be required – must be willing & able to work nights, weekends, and on-call 24/7.
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Able to troubleshoot electrical/electronic/control circuits.
- Able to utilize various electrical diagnostic tools including multimeters, oscilloscope, and basic hand tools.
- Able to interact effectively with customer and contractor personnel.
- Able to maintain attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Able to solve problems and analyze situations.
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
- Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
- Able to meet or exceed standards as established by the department.
- Able to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
- Work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights in excess of 150 feet.
