Field Crane Technician

About the role

MGX Field Crane Technicians inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position is located at the Belle Chasse, Louisiana branch of MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
  • Achieve tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Fill out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews, and expense reports.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician.
  • Experience with Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Able to travel 50% of the time to job sites and for training as required.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
  • The physical demands include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting up to 40 pounds, and frequent bending.
  • The environment includes exposure to extreme temperatures, various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.

Pay & Training

  • Pay range between $25.00 - $45.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non-bargaining employees.
  • Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday.
  • A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
