Field Service Technician (Beltsville, MD) 2026 Co-Op Program
About the role
The Field Service Technician Co-Op will support the Mid Atlantic Field Service Operations Team located in Beltsville, MD. This role provides a direct, hands-on opportunity to work with skilled, trained technical leaders in the organization.
Responsibilities
- Play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of mission critical field activities and optimizing efficiency by utilizing academic principles gained in educational courses in a dynamic professional setting.
- Demonstrate an aptitude for Networking and/or Radio Frequency.
- Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
- Maintain and document complex communications systems.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Requirements
- Must be a current student attending a 2 year program or a 4 year program at a college, university, or technical school.
- Preference will be given to Prince George Community College students.
- Actively pursuing a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
- Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN).
- Computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Logging recording systems.
Preferred Candidate Knowledge/Experience
- Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred.
- Technical skills in the use of various communications test equipment including: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, Digital RF Power Meter, Motorola Conventional, SmartNet and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x - A20.x, Digital systems and installation procedures.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.

Pay
Target Base Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 USD
