Field Service Technician 2

About the role

The Field Service Technician II provides face-to-face customer service located at an off-site location and is responsible for minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of various light and heavy construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor repairs and minimal troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
• Performs minor troubleshooting and minimal diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures
• Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles basic components
• Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job
• Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
• Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
• Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
• Completes assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate time and re-work standards
• Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
• Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• More than two years of heavy equipment experience required; three or more years preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• MSHA certification preferred
• Air conditioning certification preferred
• Crane/Rigger certifications preferred
• Supervisory Responsibilities: None
• Travel: Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay
• Additional Requirements: Valid Driver’s license required; Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record; Must own required tools to perform repairs
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb; Constant movement and use of limbs; This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina; Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment; Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment; Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work; Work Environment: Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment; Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times; May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity; Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment; Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
