About the role

The Field Service Technician I provides face-to-face customer service at off-site locations and is responsible for minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of various light and heavy industrial rental equipment. The role involves modeling company values, collaborating with internal and external resources, and participating in ongoing self-development.

Responsibilities

• Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes.
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Performs minor repairs and minimal troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.
• Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures.
• Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles basic components.
• Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs.
• Prepares and completes job-related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records.
• Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
• Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in good, clean, and working order.
• Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
• Completes assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat-rate time and re-work standards.
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
• Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
• Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may mentor lower-level Technicians.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• More than one year of industrial equipment experience required; two or more years preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• MSHA certification preferred.
• Air conditioning certification preferred.
• Crane/Rigger certifications preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record.
• Must own required tools to perform repairs.

Skills

• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
• Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb.
• Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
• Able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

Work Environment

• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
• Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts; noise level may be loud at times.
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.

Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay.
