Field Service Tech - Level 2
About the role
WECO, a Duravant Company, is a world leader in optical color and sorting with over 30 years of expertise. Our equipment serves fruit and nut processing sectors, including tomato, walnut, pecan, hops, blueberries, cranberries, olives, coffee cherries, and wine grapes. This position reports to the Service Manager and involves extensive travel to customer sites to perform installation, repairs, maintenance, and training. Up to 75% regional travel is required during busy seasons from August to November. Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check are required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field service calls at customer sites for installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training services.
- Train customer personnel on equipment operations, functionality, and general maintenance.
- Perform quality control tests on repaired equipment as needed.
- Achieve service delivery goals, including response time, first-time fix, and customer satisfaction rates.
- Communicate effectively with field service management and internal teams to resolve customer issues efficiently.
- Provide technical support via phone and email, including off-hour and weekend emergency support on a scheduled rotation.
- Document all service activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements.
- Attend training classes and technician meetings as required.
- Comply with industry, company, and customer safety practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; EE, EET, EECS, or Industrial Electronics degree is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and electrical background.
- Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to obtain a passport.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 75% during season), including overnights and some weekends, with trips ranging from 1 week to a maximum of 4 weeks.
Physical Requirements
During duties, the employee will frequently sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, talk, hear, and drive. Must use hands to handle objects or controls and occasionally climb or work in high places. The incumbent may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate cold and heat, and varying noise levels (moderate to loud). Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles may occur. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential job functions.
