Job Summary
The Field Service Technician (III) will travel throughout the USA to support mechanical and electrical tasks in power transmission, distribution, and generation. This role will install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, and troubleshoot issues using advanced knowledge of transformers, electrical testing, controls, LTC's, and oil processing.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive assignments and instructions from lead and manager.
- Read, understand, and follow Company procedures and blueprints.
- Select and prepare materials and tools for assembly operations.
- Maintain clearances and dimensions for voltage classifications.
- Perform advanced electrical testing and troubleshooting.
- Work with controls systems and troubleshoot as needed.
- Understand and interpret blueprints.
- Compose and submit daily activity reports and other job site reports.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Understanding of transformer and industry specifications.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Self-directed, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and climb.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Advanced post-high school education or 5 years of industry-specific work experience.
- Utility experience.
- Report writing experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Additional Information
- Works with other departments: Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha.
- Communicates with customers and managers regarding job aspects.
- Physical demands: Standing 90%, traveling 95%, lifting up to 50 lbs., operating heavy machinery, climbing, working at heights.
