Job Summary

The Field Service Technician (III) will travel throughout the USA to support mechanical and electrical tasks in power transmission, distribution, and generation. This role will install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, and analyze technical requirements.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments and instructions from lead and manager.
  • Read, understand, and follow Company procedures and blueprints.
  • Select and prepare materials and tools for assembly operations.
  • Maintain clearances and dimensions for voltage classifications.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and analysis of electrical testing, controls, LTC’s, and oil processing.
  • Interpret blueprints and compose Field Reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Mechanically inclined with basic hand tool knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of transformer and industry specifications for troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Understanding of electrical testing theory and controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of oil processing.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and climb.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Advanced post-high school education or 5 years of industry-specific work experience.
  • Utility experience and report writing skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Works with other departments: Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha.
  • Communicates with customers and managers regarding job aspects.
  • Physical demands: Standing 90%, traveling 95%, lifting up to 50 lbs., operating heavy machinery, climbing, working at heights.
  • Working conditions: Non-controlled environment, subject to weather at job sites.

  • Works with other departments: Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha.
  • Communicates with customers and managers regarding job aspects.

Physical Demands

  • Estimated hours: 60 hours per week.
  • Standing: 90% of the time.
  • Traveling: 95% of the time.
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying: Up to 50 lbs.
  • Operating heavy machinery, climbing, working at heights.

Working Conditions

  • Non-controlled environment in terms of climate.
  • Subject to weather at job site locations.
