Field Service/Start-Up Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site service and repair of semiconductor processing equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and maintain records/reports as required.
• Coordinate activities with peers, supervisors, and customers to minimize equipment downtime.
• Order and install parts as needed.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Instruct customer operating technicians on system operation and maintenance.
• Perform upgrades and modifications to equipment.
• Stay current on equipment/tools through training, manuals, and factory updates.
• Ensure upkeep, maintenance, and security of company property (vehicles, tools, etc.).
• Maintain standards of conduct acceptable to both TEL and customers to retain site credentials.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).
• 1+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use appropriate tools.
• Excellent customer interface and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of technical issues related to equipment maintenance, repair, and installation.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

• Duties often performed in confined areas within clean room environments, sometimes in awkward positions or high places.
• Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds required.
• May involve bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Work may include exposure to chemicals, electric currents, high voltage, moving mechanical parts, or radiation.
• Occasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities, and customer locations (domestic and international).
• Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Clean room garments may be required for extended periods.
• PPE required, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and bump cap.
• Job duties may involve walking up to/exceeding 10,000 steps and multiple flights of stairs per 12-hour shift.

Additional Notes

Highly desired: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Industrial experience preferred.

Training includes approximately 6 weeks of domestic travel in the first year; potential travel to Japan for tool training. Initial training on Shift 1, followed by compressed day schedules.
