About the role
We are seeking a hands on Field Service/Start Up Engineer I to support semiconductor equipment operations at Samsung sites in Austin and Taylor, TX. The role requires strong technical aptitude, a focus on safety, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex systems in dynamic environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform on site service, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor processing equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of service activities.
- Coordinate with peers, supervisors, and customers to minimize downtime.
- Order, install, and upgrade parts; perform equipment modifications as needed.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions.
- Train customer technicians on system operation and maintenance.
- Ensure proper upkeep and security of company property (vehicles, tools, equipment).
- Stay current on equipment/tools through training, manuals, and technical updates.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in electronics, engineering, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use appropriate tools.
- Excellent customer interface and communication skills.
- Ability to verify and meet specifications with precision.
- Stable work history demonstrating reliability and accountability.
- Flexibility for possible night shifts at Taylor site.
- Candidates previously employed as FTE at Samsung must wait 1 year before being eligible for badging.
- HS diploma with 5+ years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Work performed in clean room environments, confined areas, and high places.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs; may require bending, stooping, crawling, climbing.
- Consistent use of PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap).
- Exposure to hazardous elements (chemicals, electric currents, high voltage, moving parts, radiation).
- Occasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities, and customer sites.
