Field Service Representatives
Madison Heights, Michigan – extensive travel required (up to 75%).
About the role
The Field Service Representative serves as the primary on-site technical resource for vehicle platforms and systems operating at customer locations. This position provides scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, corrective repairs, and technical training while documenting field issues and communicating directly with Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams. The role supports real-time feedback from the field to drive engineering changes, technical publication updates, and continuous product improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support for vehicle platforms and subsystems at customer locations
- Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective repairs
- Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams
- Conduct root cause analysis on system failures and field issues
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions through field service reports
- Deliver operator and maintainer training to customer personnel
- Support new vehicle fielding activities
- Support vehicle integration events and acceptance testing
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and parts usage reports
- Coordinate warranty repairs with internal teams
- Support parts procurement and component return or exchange activities
- Work with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to support field requirements
- Identify opportunities for engineering changes and product improvements
- Recommend technical publication updates based on field observations
- Follow applicable safety standards and customer site requirements
- Maintain compliance with applicable ITAR and export control requirements
- Support program reviews, readiness assessments, and customer meetings
- Provide technical input regarding fielded system performance
- Travel to customer locations throughout the United States and internationally when required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least five years of hands-on experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment
- Proficiency using standard hand and power tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear and professional field service reports
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
- U.S. citizenship required for ITAR compliance
- Ability to travel up to 75 percent
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field
- Prior military experience supporting tactical or armored vehicle platforms
- Military maintenance experience or equivalent
- Experience supporting defense or government customers in a field service or contractor role
- Familiarity with automotive electrical systems and CAN bus architectures
- Experience with hybrid or electric drivetrains
- ASE certifications or equivalent industry credentials
- Experience using ERP or service management systems
- Experience with work order tracking and parts management
- Familiarity with ITAR or EAR export control requirements in a field environment

- Willingness to work non-standard hours, weekends, and extended shifts as required
- Ability to complete extended assignments at customer sites when required
