We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Power Generation in Lafayette, LA. External hires are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
About the role
In this role, you will make an impact by:
- Completing preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on generators or components at the customer site with minimal direction.
- Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Applying the use of specialized tools and following documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
- Completing required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Completing training in line with skill and business requirements.
- Adhering to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation, and reporting any issues or incidents to your supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and continually develops productive customer relations and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
- Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs at customer sites.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field.
- Escalates unresolved issues to product specialists or supervisors.
- Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices, transferring knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction and review repair plans or parts lists.
- Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Ensures adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation, and reports any issues or incidents to site management and supervisors.

- Power Generation Systems Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of industry standards by complying with safe work procedures and interpreting Power Generation system operation and integration (e.g., switchgear, power system controls, uninterruptable power supply).
- Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools to ensure quality repairs within standard timeframes.
- Service Documentation - Creates and verifies customer, equipment, and technical information; captures specific data using required service tools and documents information in the service management system.
- Technical Escalation - Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts.

Requirements
- Apprentice Certified Power Generation/Electrical Technician (preferred).
- Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
- Current relevant electrical certification.
- Locally valid driving permit.
- Basic level field service work experience.
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products.
- High Voltage/Low Voltage experience.
- Customer service experience.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Schedule
Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with an on-call schedule. Work hours are subject to change based on business needs.
Additional Information
- This role requires a current valid DOT license, a 5-year motor vehicle report free from major violations, and passing a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
- Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older; applicant must be 21 years of age.
- This role is subject to DOT driving regulations, including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use.
- 3 years of driving experience is required.
- Understanding the demands of emergency services means some unexpected overtime on a fairly regular basis due to outage events, and being able to adjust to on-call rotation coverages.
- Ability to manage difficult or stressful situations with customers, as emergency service often involves high emotional situations.
- Ability to work well with different personality types and manage constructive feedback with a positive attitude.
