About the Role
The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician samples and changes oil and fluids on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment and competitive brands. This field position involves working largely independently out of a company-provided lube service truck at various customer locations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, company policies, and procedures.
- Perform lube service on construction equipment, engines, and powertrains.
- Remove, inspect, and install filters; maintain lube truck inventory; order needed parts and supplies.
- Follow company and EPA guidelines for disposal of oil and filter waste.
- Operate equipment to inspect for post-service issues or leaks and ensure proper operation.
- Respond to customer needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner.
- Lift up to 25-30 pounds occasionally.
- Work a flexible schedule and overtime, including nights, weekends, and overnight travel as required.
- Work independently in remote locations.
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” and DOT medical card.
- Use a basic set of hand tools for job-related tasks.
- Travel as required; work in environments where hazards may be present.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Field Service PM Technician training or service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships, or manufacturer training preferred.
- 1–2 years of prior experience in PM technical areas desired.
- Must display professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency, self-initiative, and personal drive to be successful.
- Excellent communication skills.
