About the role
Valmet is seeking great people to mentor into the next generation of paper and power industry professionals. As a Field Service Engineer, you will primarily support the Recovery Field Service (RFS) and Energy Field Service (EFS) for the North American teams, playing a critical role in ensuring customer equipment runs at optimal levels. This hands-on position involves problem-solving and delivering field services for Pulp, Energy, and Circularity equipment, including utilities, recausticizing, woodyard, fiber processing, and pulping & paper equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform process and field services for a wide variety of Pulp, Energy, & Circularity equipment.
- Support all field service activities, including planned and unplanned maintenance, emergency assistance, and on-site customer support.
- Complete start-ups, shut-downs, commissioning services, inspections, and condition assessments.
- Work with cutting-edge technology and tools, including maintenance and service agreements, tune-ups, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with outage planning and execution, emergency assistance, and root cause analysis.
- Adhere to Valmet’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives.
- Prepare and submit detailed service reports in a timely manner.
- Collaborate in a team environment with Field Service Engineers, Product Engineers, and Sales personnel.
- Develop relationships with key customers and conduct service sales visits.
- Travel to customer locations (including potential overseas assignments) to deliver hands-on support.
Requirements
- Degree from a college, university, or technical/trade school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Travel greater than 50% may be required, including international assignments.
- Paper industry experience of more than 5 years is a bonus.
- Strong background in Boilers (Chemical Recovery and Power Generation), Woodyard, Evaporation, Lime Kiln, Pulp drying, and Recaust is helpful.
- Good communication, organizational skills, and strong PC skills.
- Must be living and authorized to work in the U.S. (no international relocation available).
