Field Service Engineer / Specialist - Pulp & Energy

As a Field Service Engineer, you will primarily support the Recovery Field Service (RFS) and Energy Field Service (EFS) for the North American teams, while adhering to Valmet Inc. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives. This position plays a critical role in supporting customer operations and ensuring their equipment runs at optimal levels.
Responsibilities
- Perform process and field services for a wide variety of Pulp, Energy, & Circularity equipment and products, including but not limited to: Utilities, Recausticizing, Woodyard, Fiber processing, and Pulping & Paper equipment typically found in a Pulp & Paper mill.
- Support all field service activities, including travel to customer locations to deliver critical hands-on support for both planned and unplanned maintenance or emergency situations.
- Complete start-ups, shut-downs, commissioning services, inspections, and condition assessments to ensure equipment operates at optimum levels.
- Work with cutting-edge technology and tools, including maintenance and service agreements, tune-ups, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in outage planning and execution, emergency assistance, and root cause analysis.
- Support and adhere to Valmet Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives.
- Prepare and submit detailed service reports in a timely manner.
- Work in a team environment with Field Service Engineers, Product Engineers, and Sales personnel.
- Develop relationships with key customers and conduct service sales visits.
- May include overseas travel to support targeted projects.
Requirements
- Degree from a college, university, or technical/trade school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Travel greater than 50% or more may be required for providing service and following up with customers on a regular basis. International assignments may also be required.
- Paper industry experience of more than 5 years is a bonus.
- Strong background in Boilers (Chemical Recovery and Power Generation), Woodyard, Evaporation, Lime Kiln, Pulp drying, and Recaust is helpful.
- Good communication and organizational skills, along with strong PC skills.
- Must be living and authorized to work in the US. This position is not available for international relocation.
